GLIPro EQ-2100B. Why not work?

I bought this item from an eBay store few weeks ago. The eBay seller is an authorized dealer of GLIPro, so the item is original.

My main reason to buy this product is the attractive display panel, as according to description it can display the working status (audio spectrum) of the signal in either before (DIRECT) or after (EQ) equalization.

But after few experiments, I have come to a conclusion that this unit is not working as described. The audio spectrum display is not correct. The following experiments demonstrate my point.

I connect the audio output from a laptop to the DVD input of the unit as follows.

An to make sure, I set the equalization to be "flat"

Then I wrote a program on the computer to generate three purely sine wave signals at frequencies 100Hz, 200Hz, and 500Hz.

If the display panel is working properly, it should show an audio spectrum of only one peak for each case, shifting from 100Hz to 500Hz. Everywhere else should be zero or very small.

But to my surprise, regardless of what input audio signal, the spectrum pattern displayed is the same.

As can be seen, in these three cases, the spectrum pattern is unchanged. I even videotaped the display panel when a real movie is played and the recording is available at the following YouTube website

My conclusion is that the display is not working properly. It does not show the spectrum content correctly. A good spectrum analyzer should show real audio input like this

In Black Ash, Excellent Conditions!

If you are a serious music lover then this sub is for you.

Most main speakers only go low to about 50Hz. To get a deeper bass in order to feel the music, you need a good sub to enhance the main speakers.

I personally prefer the closed box design, as it provides tighter bass response, and that is why I bought this sub. It goes deep to 27Hz (at -3dB) as from the real test at

This sub belongs to the 600 series, and is made by B&W, one of the most respected speaker manufacturers in the Hi-Fi industry.

It has been carefully kept. I mainly use for music so never turn the volume more than half.

It has many controls (line input volume, low-pass filter input / high pass filter output, cross-over, equalization options, phase control, and on/off/auto mode see photos) which can suit a number of listening requirements.

It uses the energy efficient Class D amplifier, which gives it massive 200W output whilst keeping the amplifier cool (that is why you see a smooth rear panel).

It is also very cute and does not occupy much space, unlike some other monster subs do.

So it is suitable to small to medium rooms.

The only reason that I sell this sub is that I have found another sub in gloss-black which matches better with my main speakers.

Bought it about a year ago at West Coast Hi-fi Cannington, and it is still in a condition close to brand-new.

It comes with original box, manuals, spikes/rubber feet for both carpet or hard flooring.
